Houston Texans were founded in 1999 and became the 32nd and most recent NFL team and replaced the city's previous team Houston Oilers who had played in the city from 1960 to 1996 before relocating to Nashville and becoming the Tennessee Titans.
They struggled in their first decade of play but have gone on to win 5 AFC South championships. As of the 2019 season, they remain the only team that has never appeared in a conference championship game.
