The 2001 XFL season was the league’s first and only full season, featuring eight teams split across East and West divisions. The Los Angeles Xtreme won the league’s inaugural championship.
The league was relaunched briefly in 2020, cut short due to the Coronavirus-19 Pandemic, and then returned for a full regular season and playoffs in 2023 before merging with the USFL to form the UFL in 2024.
