WESTERN CONFERENCE
Prior to the AFL-NFL Merger in 1970, and from 1967-1969, the NFL was split into two conferences of which the Western Conference was split into two divisions:
The Division champions played in the Western Conference Championship Game for a place in the NFL Championship Game who would then represent the NFL in the Super Bowl.
