2026 BFL standings
BFL Draft applies to the assignment of NFL affiliates per season under BFL Rule, and the draft year references the season in which they will be used regardless of when the NFL affiliates are announced i.e. 2027 BFL Draft refers to the 2027 BFL season. NFL affiliates are announced in January/December in line with when NFL Playoffs teams are announced based on seeding, therefore meaning that some BFL teams may have their NFL affiliates confirmed before others.
BFL Draft plays a dual role as it is based on the BFL Rules but formulates how BFL teams are affiliated with NFL teams to curate the standings and playoffs.
Draft History up to and including the 2026 BFL Draft can be found below in alphabetical order of team and grayed out for seasons when the team was not active. Draft history is split into separate eras of six seasons including the current draft.

Prior to 2026, the BFL Draft existed in principle but not in name and the name was used to give it more of an identity and its own BFL representation.
2028 Expansion teams
Under BFL Draft Rules, BFL Expansion teams will be assigned NFL affiliates that fall outside of the seeded teams against current teams, in alphabetical order by city/region, for their first season only before joining the seeded group in their second season.
2027 BFL Draft
NFL affiliates will be announced in January 2027, last week of the NFL regular season or sooner as and when NFL Playoffs teams are announced.
2027 will be the final season in which the league operates as a 16-team league before moving to a 24-team league in 2028.

Draft History
From 2027, BFL Draft will assign NFL affiliates based on the previous NFL season’s playoff field as per BFL Draft Rules in seeded order which strengthens competitive balance and awards higher performing BFL teams with better performing NFL teams.

New York Jets remain the only NFL team yet to be affiliated with a BFL team up to and including the 2026 BFL Season (12 seasons).
Both Atlanta Falcons (2017) and Indianapolis Colts (2019) have the longest NFL affiliation droughts.
