2025 BFL Season is the first season in which the BFL teams' NFL affiliates will be chosen by way of the previous NFL season's playoffs teams made up of 7 NFL teams per AFC & NFC Conferences plus the next best team outside of the Playoffs teams to make up 8 per Conference. Division Champions now host the individual Division Finals. Prior to 2025, the top 6 NFL affiliates were chosen by way of their overall record and not by using the NFL's system which includes division champions.
Final standings are announced following NFL Week 11 for the 2025 season onwards.
Overall records of NFL affiliates are used at the end of Week 11 which includes tie-breakers and as such, NP (Net Points) are no longer used to break ties.

*Dates may vary depending on the NFL affiliates that qualify for the playoffs of which the previous week's scores maybe used if an NFL team has a bye week during the BFL playoffs.
PLAYOFF RULES
Special rules used to decide playoff games include the following two distinct rules:
1.1 PLAYOFF GAME SCORING
- The final full time score for each team is the primary score for the game.
- If this results in a tie, then each quarter score by each team is added as overtime until an outright winner is found. Therefore a maximum total of 4 OTs.
- If this still results in a tie, then the very first score (touchdown or field goal or safety) by each team is added as overtime and this procedure will be added until no more scores are available for that week and ultimately this should result in an outright winner. This means that there is no limit as to how many overtime scores are used to break the tie.
- If the tie still cannot be broken, then Rule 1.3 is repeated as many times as possible until there is an outright winner.
1.2 BYE WEEKS DURING THE PLAYOFFS (IF APPLICABLE)
Since the 2021 BFL Season, as the NFL expanded its season to a 17 game/18 week season and therefore, unlike the 2020 season, there will be the potential of bye weeks during
the playoffs.
- BFL Playoffs follow the NFL Regular Season Weeks 12-14 (14-16 in 2020-2024).
- Week 14 will be the sole bye week during the BFL playoffs. Team(s) that have a bye week during the playoffs, will use their Week 13 score or previously played week for the score.
- Division Champions no longer automatically get a bye week but instead host the Division Finals.

2024 North Division Semi-Final - CALEDONIAN KNIGHTS (affiliated with the Baltimore Ravens) had a bye week in Week 14 so will automatically use their Week 13 (01 December) result.
