INFORMATION
Team information can be found immediately after the 'Division History' section.
This division began as the Interprovincial Rugby Football Union in 1907 with Hamilton Tigers,Montreal Football Club,Ottawa Rough Riders and Toronto Argonauts.
Several now-defunct teams have also played in the East Division including two teams from the United States (Baltimore Football Club & Shreveport Pirates) and a large number of teams that have played in Hamilton, Montreal, and Ottawa prior to the current teams from those cities.
Current West Division team, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers have, in the past, spent a number of seasons in the East over three separate stints.
Despite the Cross-over rule being in existence since the 1997 CFL Season, no East Division team has 'crossed-over'.
In 1980,the EFC took on its current name but did not exist in 1995 when the CFL took on the North and South Division alignment.
With the addition of the Ottawa RedBlacks in 2014,Winnipeg Blue Bombers returned to the West Division which it last played in prior to the 2006 season.
In 1960 it was renamed as the Eastern Football Conference and played an interlocking schedule with that of the Western Football Conference (now the West Division) in 1961.
Atlantic Schooners, originally proposed to start in 1983 but folded, are proposed to be the CFL's 10th team with a unknown scheduled kickoff.
