Montreal Alouettes (Montreal,PQ), nickname is French for 'Larks',are also known as Les Alouettes de Montréal and have folded and been revived twice since initially forming in 1946. Football in Montreal dates back to 1872.
From 1946-1981,the Alouettes won 4 Grey Cups before collapsing in 1982. In 1982,they were relaunched as the Montreal Concordes before folding after 4 season and being revived as the Alouettes in 1986 before folding once again in 1987. There was no team in Montreal for 9 years after the team was established in 1996 following two seasons as the Baltimore Stallions who became the first non-Canadian team to win the Grey Cup. However, the CFL counts all Montreal teams as one franchise dating back to 1946 and considers that the Alouettes suspended operations in 1987 before returning in 1996.
The Alouettes have won seven Grey Cups, most recently in back-to-back years in 2009 and 2010.
