New York Giants were founded in 1925 as one of 5 teams that joined the NFL that year and are the only one of these that still exists as well as the longest-established team in the Northeastern United States. They may represent the New York metropolitan area but moved to Giants Stadium in East Rutherford,NJ in 1976 and where the team has been based.
The Giants are ranked 3rd with 8 NFL Championships in the pre-Super Bowl era (1927,1934,1938 and 1956) and 4 Super Bowl titles (XXI, XXV, XLII AND XLVI). They have appeared in more championships than any other team with 19 followed by the Green Bay Packers (13) and Chicago Bears (9).
The team was incorporated as the "New York National League Football Company, Inc." in 1929 and changed to "New York Football Giants, Inc." in 1937. The baseball team, of the same name, moved to San Francisco after the 1957 season.
