TEAMS
Sussex Pirates
Sussex Pirates represent the city of Brighton & Hove and both East and West Sussex counties. Their main rivals are the London Monarchs.
They play at the home of Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club with a capacity of 30,750.
Brighton will host the 2021 Championship Game.
The team is called the 'Pirates' due to the area's rich history of smuggling which is made reference to by the local Smuggler's Rest restaurant in nearby Peacehaven. Their logo is based on the defunct Peoria Pirates of the AF2 arena football league.
As of 2020, the Pirates have appeared in the playoffs three times (2015,2018-2019) but have yet to appear in the BFL Championship Game.
