Yorkshire Vikings

Yorkshire Vikings represent the counties of East Yorkshire (Hull and surrounding areas), North Yorkshire (Harrogate, Middlesborough, Northallerton, Scarborough and York), South Yorkshire (four metropolitan boroughs of Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield) and West Yorkshire which is made up of five metropolitan boroughs (City of Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, City of Leeds and City of Wakefield) and based in the largest of Leeds. Their main rivals are the Tyneside Mariners and the Scottish Claymores, having lost to them in the playoffs (2016-2019).

They play at the home of Leeds United, and sometimes Leeds Rhinos (Rugby League) who also play at the nearby Headingley Stadium, with a capacity of 37,890.

Leeds will host the 2022 Championship Game.

The team name originates from the fact that the Vikings settled all across the UK but the densest population was found in Yorkshire and which York was the Viking capital of England. The Jorvik Museum is worth a visit and can be found in the city centre of York. However, due to York City's home ground being too small, Elland Road in Leeds ws chosen instead. Their colours and logo are inspired by the Brigham Young Cougars college football team and a helmet that they last used in 2004.

Yorkshire Vikings is not to be confused with the Yorkshire Cricket Club's limited overs team also called the Yorkshire Vikings.
