Sacramento Gold Miners

Sacramento Gold Miners (Sacramento,CA,USA) were part of the CFL's failed expansion into the USA in the mid-1990s and played in the West Division along with fellow American team Las Vegas Posse and Canadian teams BC Lions,Calgary Stampeders,Edmonton Eskimos and Saskatchewan Roughriders.

In their very first season,they:
1. became the first American team to play in the CFL.
2. became the first American team to host a CFL game, against the Calgary Stampeders (losing 38-36) on July 17.
3. became the first American team to record a win in the CFL,against the Saskatchewan Roughriders (winning 37-26) on July 24.
4. recorded the most wins by an expansion team with 6 wins (the record was broken the follow year by the Baltimore Stallions).

Despite these impressive records,CFL and NFL teams have played against each other in the 1950s to 1960s.

After two seasons in Sacramento, the team relocated to become the San Antonio Texans in 1995 before folding as the CFL returned to sole Canadian teams.
