Ottawa Renegades
TD BANK STADIUM
Ottawa Renegades (Ottawa,ON) became the 2nd Ottawa based team in recent years, following the Ottawa Rough Riders, who folded following the 1996 season. The Renegades' logo was chosen as it was similar to the logo used by the Rough Riders up until 1992.
The Gliebermans, who had owned the Shreveport Pirates, after they were refused the option to relocate their own Ottawa Rough Riders to Norfolk,VA. However the Renegades were a failure both on and off the field and never qualified for the playoffs. The CFL had provided financial assistance for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Toronto Argonauts but refused to do so for the Renegades and they folded as their financial problems would have continued. Ottawa would return to the CFL with the RedBlacks in 2014 who have proven to be more successful.
