Since the 2019 Season, the top 3 (per Division) qualify for the Playoffs, making a total of 6 teams, after the previous plans to expand the playoffs were dropped. See BFL Rules 2-4 for further details.
2025 Season will expand to 8 teams (4 per division), 4 @ 1 & 3 @ 2; meaning the Division champion will no longer receive a bye into the Division Final.

RECORDS
All BFL founding members (Birmingham Bandits, London Monarchs, Manchester Demons, Scottish Claymores, Sussex Pirates, Tyneside Mariners, Welsh Dragons & Yorkshire Vikings) and expansion teams (Caledonian Knights, Merseyside Centurions, Sherwood Forest Outlaws and Thames Valley Thunder) have played in the playoffs.
Scottish Claymores have won 4 consecutive Championship Games (2016-2019) and Birmingham Bandits have won 2 consecutive Championship Games (2015-2016).
From 2016-2024 (9 seasons), a Scottish team either Caledonian Knights (2020/2022-2024) and Scottish Claymores (2016-2019,2021) has appeared in every Playoffs.
Only North Division teams (Tyneside Mariners and Yorkshire Vikings) have yet to win a playoff game and both the Sherwood Forest Outlaws and Vikings have the current longest playoff drought of 3 seasons, previously held by the Mariners from 2015-2020 (4 seasons).
