The Rhein Fire secured first place in the league as the only team with a winning record with their 10-7 win against the London Monarchs on June 15, 1997.
The Amsterdam Admirals moved their home games to the new Amsterdam ArenA.
For 1998, the World League of American Football was rebranded "NFL Europe".
