RETURN OF THE LEAGUE
WLAF returned in 1995, and was founded by former members of the WLAF (Barcelona Dragons, Frankfurt Galaxy & London Monarchs) and 3 new teams Amsterdam Admirals, Rhein Fire & Scottish Claymores (playing in both Glasgow and Edinburgh).
In 1998, the league was rebranded as NFL Europe League. That same year, England Monarchs folded and became the Berlin Thunder with F.C. Barcelona Dragons replaced by Cologne Centurions in 2004 and Scottish Claymores by Hamburg Sea Devils in 2005.
The following year it was rebranded as NFL Europa. But in 2007, the NFL closed the league as it was losing $30 million per season.
