2026 BFL season

The British Football League (BFL) is a fantasy football league created by Alex Thomas. It draws inspiration from the NFL and features team names from historic and defunct franchises as a tribute to his love of Gridiron Football. All team names and logos are used for entertainment purposes only, and no rights are claimed.

It comprises of 16 teams divided into two conferences, which are made up of two divisions each made up of four teams, as of the 2025 BFL season. More details can be found under the Teams section.

BFL Bowl future hosts

2027 BFL season

The BFL Bowl will switch from its permanent host of Wembley Stadium, London to a rotational hub system made up of Edinburgh, Manchester, Cardiff and London.

BFL teams will have NFL affiliates based on record rather than alphabetical order assigned from the final standings of the 2026 NFL season.

The BFL consists of 16 teams, split into two conferences, each containing two divisions of four teams and which teams represent major cities and regions across the UK.

History

Since its formation, the BFL has expanded through new franchises, realignments, and structural changes that shaped the modern 16‑team, two‑conference league. These developments include new expansion clubs, teams joining from former leagues, and divisional adjustments over time.

Rules

The British Football League (BFL) uses a unique system based on the performance of NFL affiliates. These rules define how standings, playoffs, overtime, and bye weeks are handled each season.

Seasons & Standings

The complete history of every BFL season and standings, from the league’s early years to today. Each year reflects the performance of the teams’ NFL affiliates, shaping standings, rivalries, and playoff races across the league.

The league features a 11-week regular season in which each team plays 10 games with one bye week and affiliated with the NFL's regular season. The regular season traditionally runs from September to November. After the regular season, four teams compete in the playoffs, which culminate in the BFL Bowl championship game in early December.
