Ottawa Redblacks joined as the 9th CFL team, 3rd CFL team based in Ottawa since the inaugural 1958 CFL Season, after the previous Ottawa Renegades folded following the 2005 CFL Season.
As a result of the expansion, the schedule shifted to a 20-week regular season.
Winnipeg Blue Bombers returned to the West Division.
